Battle Royale: Red, White, and Blood was conceived as an homage to the original two Japanese movies.  Originally planned by Jenny Reed in April of 2007, the movie came to fruition in late June of 2007.  It was filmed throughout the month of July, and premiered on August 3.  It had a cast of 11 actors, and was edited on Final Cut Express HD Mainly by Luke, but also with help from Sam.  The movie was originally intended to be serious, as can be seen in most of the scenes.  But by the end, the deadline was approaching and the actors were getting tired, so a few scenes ended up being a little bit sillier than originally intended.  The movie was filmed at several different locations in Burlington:  The forest around the abandoned railroad trestle, Logan’s house, Luke’s house, the basement and light booth of the Hayloft theater, downtown Burlington, Zach’s house, and Winkler School.  Along with the movie, an outtakes reel was produced, which has grown to become more popular than that actual movie, due to its record of the truly strange things that happened during production. The movie and outtakes are available on DVD as a double feature with The Cloak of Vlad.
